Acer Paving & Landscaping were asked to look at an area of ground adjacent the playground in a school near Devizes, Wiltshire recently. The area was probably used regularly in fine weather but as soon as the rain arrived, it fast become a slippery, muddy mess !
Apparently the school had two other quotations prior to ours, both company’s suggesting laying artificial grass on the slope. We thought it would be much better to terrace the area, providing a usable flat space that would be far more useful.
The solution decided upon was to form a wrap around step to access the main area which is now flat and much safer for children to use. Namgrass artificial grass was installed by us as members of the Namgrass Approved Installer network.
Cutting the artificial grass around the existing birch tree was no problem, the artificial turf and bedding layers are all totally free draining and permeable, so the tree will come to no harm. Maintenance will just involve keeping the grass play area free from leaves by sweeping them away or using a leaf blower.
Finally the bench was placed back in its position.
In addition Acer were asked to tackle an area on the opposite side of the playground. It was covered in a felt matting material that was due for renewal.
The felt was probably never an attractive material and it’s prone to holding water and getting muddy – not ideal for a play surface !
Now the area looks far more attractive, is easier to maintain and clean !
This is one of many artificial grass areas constructed by Acer throughout Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. We always try to be innovative and provide the best landscaping advice possible.
